Are you off to somewhere fantastic, warm, and tropical for spring break? We sure hope so! Packing for vacation can get a little hectic, especially if you are packing for others as well (ahem... kids... and significant others). Luckily we have the perfect packing list for you to be able to bring your routine (and maybe even your very own spa) with you. Just because you are on vacation, does not mean you can vacate your skincare routine!

The products below all come in TSA friendly sizes!

Wellness Wednesday: Detoxing for Spring

3/16/2016 Osmosis Skincare 0 Comments

Did you know that once spring cleaning season rolls around, you should not only clean house, BUT clean your body too? Internal and external detoxing is so important for your body to function properly. Using spring as the catalyst for doing a body detox really is perfect timing. Use this time to clear your system of toxins and "icks" to get ready for summer! There are many things you can do to "cleanse," and sometimes it can get overwhelming to choose the right path for your wellness journey. More important, some of the options out there tend to be a wolf in sheep's clothing situation. Juice cleanses, veggies only, or even scarier, no solid foods (tell me it ain't so)!

When you choose to cleanse, jumping right into a no solid food option can put your body into quite a bit of shock and your pancreas can become very confused. No one likes a confused pancreas. Cleansing should be gentle on your body and be based on whole foods. Weight loss should not be your main goal. Your main goal should be removing toxins (we are introduced to over 1 million toxins PER DAY), like heavy metals, from your body and giving your body the treatment it deserves to obtain optimum health. Weight loss should be an after thought when cleansing. So, what should you do? We have devised the perfect internal spring cleaning plan for you and your beautiful body.

What you will need for a spring detox: (we suggest a 30 day detox)

Harmonized Water (we suggest Environmental Protection and Inner Harmony)
Natural deodorant (without aluminum and parabens)
Notebook to journal how you feel
Organic veggies
Organic fruits (load up on lemons)
Lean, organic meats and wild caught fish
Brown Rice
Gluten Free Oatmeal

Detox your fridge and pantry. Remove any allergen prompting foods and preservative based foods... if the shelf life is longer than your own, toss it! Nuts, dairy, eggs, soy, refined sugar and... *gasp* gluten, these foods can cause your body to react in ways you may not even be aware of. Gluten can cause dry, rash prone skin. Dairy can break you out and bloat the living daylights out of you. Soy can really disrupt your hormonal health. Nuts, of course, can be an allergen for some, but if you don't have a problem with them, then don't worry about trashing them. Eggs are in the same basket as nuts. If you have never experienced an issue when eating them don't worry about trashing them. If you are not sure, then use this as an opportunity to find out! Keep in mind, that while you detox you may experience breakouts, body odor, and an increase in fatigue (for the first week). This is your skin's way of contributing to the removal of toxins. Don't give up, it always gets worse before it gets better!

AM Routine:

Upon waking, give your body a good full stretch. Elevate your legs in the air to get blood flowing. With your fingers, in very soft gentle motions, start to lightly sweep your skin from your feet up towards your midsection. Get out of bed and continue to lightly sweep your skin from your midsection, up to your armpits. Raise your right arm in the air, and continue to sweep down from your hand towards your armpit. Repeat with your left arm. You just gave yourself a nice little lymphatic treatment! Doing this in the AM is a great way to trigger your lymphatic system into gear.

Once you have completed that, do a couple yoga stretches. We love doing Child's Pose in the AM, it helps trigger your bowels.

Drink a glass of room temperature water with a whole lemon squeezed into it. Lemon water in the morning is a great way to start the day off in an alkaline position. End cap your lemon water with Restore, place one pump under your tongue and leave for 15-20 minutes, discard once your time is up!

Get ready for your day!

Eat a big breakfast. Coffee (no dairy), Oatmeal (throw in some clean, plant based protein powder) with fruit or eggs with fruit. Keep some healthy fat within your breakfast. Coconut oil in your oatmeal or Avocado with your eggs. If you want to go all in, have a small spinach salad with it (or juice your spinach and fruit)!

Take your Elevate and DIM Supplement followed by another glass of water with 5 pumps of your Harmonized Water.

Afternoon Routine:

If you work at an office, make sure to take 20 (part of your lunch break) minutes to walk around. This does not need to be vigorous, just a light walk to keep your blood flowing.

Eat a big lunch!  A big salad with protein or boiled salmon with veggies and brown rice.

Follow your meal with Complete.

PM Routine:

After work, get on home and go for a walk or do some light yoga. Clear your mind from the day by grabbing that journal and free form write. Write how you felt about your meals, your energy level and how much water you drank. Keep your journal free of negative comments about you, your body, and co-workers. Just focus on the good things you are providing to your body and spirit.

Have dinner before 7 PM. Dinner should be a light salad. Mix in some brown rice and light protein. Stay away from pre-made dressings. Just grab some olive oil, lemon, and a little salt and pepper, and call it a day! Keeping your dinners as the lightest meal of the day lets your body digest and come down from the day without having to work on eliminating heavy foods.

Follow your meal with Complete and Elevate

Trigger your body to get ready for bed. Keep overhead lights off and limit TV watching or use of electronic devices. Try and be in bed no later than 10:30 PM. Finish your night with another serving of your Harmonized Water and pump of Restore

(Be sure to wash your face with Deep Clean and treat with one of our Vitamin A Serums or DNA Repair Serums)

BOOM! How easy was that day of detoxing? No frills, no gimmicks, just good clean treatment. For these 30 days, try and avoid alcohol intake and of course, if you are a smoker... just quit already, you can do it!

Once your 30 days is up, start to re-introduce the allergen foods slowly and one at a time. Start with gluten. Keep your journal close and pay attention to if you feel any abnormal reactions once you eat it (try a piece of toast). If you bloat, get itchy or feel anything out of the ordinary, you may have a sensitivity to gluten. The following day, do the same thing with dairy and so on and so forth. If you have any reactions to the allergy foods, consider removing them from your diet for good. If you don't have a reaction, just keep them in moderation.

Now read your 30 day journal. Reflect on all the good you provided your body AND the 30 days of having a negative free zone to go to! Keep your journal close as you continue your wellness journey as a reminder of what you are worth and what you are capable of! Past your 30 days, continue with your supplements as part of your daily routine.

Happy Detoxing out there!!

Detox Facial - Start the New Season With a Clean Slate.

3/10/2016 Osmosis Skincare 1 Comments

Oh Acne. We thought we parted ways once we turned 18 and our awkward skin days were over. But alas, it continues to find its way back into our lives. Acne, especially adult acne, can be a huge downer and with spring and summer approaching, the thought of having to wear a lot of makeup to cover up our breakouts is enough to cause a FREAKOUT! Don't worry, we have devised a plan to kick acne to the curb with our Spring Detox Facial! Get ready to reveal clearer, smoother skin.

Step 1. Cleanse with Deep Clean Cleanser. Work it into your skin in circular motions and massage gently to lift impurities, oil, and makeup.

Step 2. Double cleanse with Purify to loosen dead skin cells for a fresh, clean face.

Step 3. Exfoliate with Polish. Massage a nickel size amount onto your face, neck, and chest.

Step 4. Inhale and take a whiff of the delicious cranberry scent of Polish.

Step 5. Wrap a warm towel around your face and let it sit for 5 minutes, then gently remove the mask.

Step 6. Apply one pump of Rescue to your skin. Rescue will ease inflammation, neutralize toxins, and initiate repair of irritated breakouts.

Step 7. Mix one pump of Clarify and one pump of Clear, massage into your skin and use gentle tapping motions with your finger tips to press the product into your skin.

Step 8. Apply a big ol' scoop (silver dollar size amount) of Pore Minimizing Clay Purifying Mask. Massage the mask for 3 minutes onto your face, neck, and chest. If you have break outs on your back, this mask would be a great treatment for those pesky little buggers.

Step 9. After you've massaged the mask into your skin, wrap your face, neck, and chest with a warm towel. Once the towel has cooled, remove the mask.

Step 10.  Look in the mirror and say, "Hello beautiful!"

Step 11. Spritz 1-2 pumps of Clear Plus onto your skin.

Step 12. Apply Shade or Protect to keep your skin shielded from the sun. Throw some pressed base on and hop, skip, and jump outside to show off your clear, beautiful skin... Or just have a dance party in your living room. It's up to you!

This facial experience is perfect for spring cleaning your skin. Set aside some time once a week to treat yourself to a mighty detox. In between treatments we suggest using a Vitamin A Serum as your PM treatment and Rescue in the AM (with Protect or Shade).

For an extra skin detox boost, add Skin Perfection Harmonized Water and DIM to your daily routine to treat your skin from the inside out.

Now put on some Enya and get to spahhhh-ing, homestyle!

Spring Cleaning! Organize your Beauty Routine.

3/04/2016 Osmosis Skincare 1 Comments

Is there anything better than a Spring purge? We think not... maybe except sangrias on a sunny porch. Spring is the perfect time to organize your skincare and makeup. With the winter months nearly behind us, it is best to take a look at your routine and simplify it. It is easy for your medicine cabinet and makeup storage to get unorganized, making it more hectic to get ready in the morning, so let's grab a trash bag, put on some tunes (maybe a little Bruno Mars?) and get to organizing with these easy steps!

Step 1: Evaluate which products (makeup and skincare) you use daily without fail. Set those items aside. We like to separate our routines by AM and PM.

Step 2. Look at the items that did not make your daily cut. Ask yourself how long you have had them (if it has been more than 24 months, toss those suckers).

Step 3. The items that are used sparingly and are still in good clean condition (and not expired) should go in a separate place, away from your daily routine. Place them in a bin or drawer, upside down (bottom label facing up). If you use the product, place it back into it's home right side up. If at the end of the year, there are still items upside down, it's time to toss them!

Step 4. Now it's time to organize your daily products. Let's start with skincare. In your medicine cabinet or bathroom storage, wipe them down with a antibacterial cloth to remove any build up, germs, and "icks" to keep them looking like new. Line your skincare up from left to right in the order which you use it.  (Don't forget to clean your storage before you put your products in it).

Organizing your makeup can be tough, but if you were able to set aside your key products and keep them separate from say, your "painting the town red" products, you are ready to simplify your storage. Let's break this down.

Step 5. Brushes: Organize your brushes by face and eyes. Keep them on your counter or vanity for easy retrieval. Don't keep them in a drawer, not only will they get the surrounding area messy, but they won't have a chance to breathe! We love keeping our brushes in fun, monogrammed mugs. Have one for your face brushes and one for your eye brushes which can also include your eyeliner and mascara.

Step 6. Find a storage unit that fits your personal style or if you have a vanity, pick a drawer designated to your makeup.

Step 7. Clean your makeup! Wipe down each compact, tube, and pallet with an antibacterial wipe and deep clean your brushes. See our Rub-a-Dub-Dub Blog post for tips.

Step 9. With your Osmosis Brush Cleaner in hand, open each powder product and give it a spritz (holding the bottle at arm's length away from the product). Let it dry completely before closing, roughly 10 minutes.

Step 10. From left to right, place the products in your drawer/storage unit in the order of which you use them.

Step 11. Take a deep breath and feel refreshed and organized!

Step 12. Put on some pink lipstick (we love First Kiss) and go meet up with your gals on a sunny, warm porch for some sangrias!

Spring Flush - Finding the Right Blush for your Skin Tone

3/03/2016 Osmosis Skincare 1 Comments

We all want that perfect flush for spring, you know the one... it looks like you just worked out and your skin is glowing and your cheeks are just slightly blushing. Finding the right blush color can be tricky. You want it to look natural as opposed to looking like you found some clown makeup in your Halloween box. We have a great variety of blushes to choose from and we broke them down to show you which ones are the perfect fit for your skin tone! Now you can look like you just worked out, even if you were actually binge watching Fuller House on Netflix.

Before we get to the breakdown, let's first figure out what skin tone you are.

If your coloring resembles that of Nicole Kidman you are FAIR. You burn easily without sun protection and have a creamy or subtle pink undertone.

If you feel like your coloring resembles Emma Stone you are a LIGHT skin tone. Light skin tones tend to have a neutral undertone (creamy peach, not quite cool, not quite warm).

If your coloring is similar to Jessica Alba's your are a MEDIUM skin tone. Medium tones can be cool or warm in undertone. If your skin is warm like honey, you are warm. If it is peach or pink your are cool.

If your coloring is like Alfre Woodard you are MEDIUM-DARK. Your undertone may be closer to plum or red (cool) or yellow (warm).

Alright, let's find your perfect blush:

Poppy, Summer Rose and Tulip - Medium - Dark skin tones: These bright blushes pack some serious depth which look incredibly natural and gorgeous on medium and dark tones. Poppy and Tulip are great for cooler undertones while Summer Rose is perfect for warmer undertones.

Nude Bliss, Summer Rose and Crushed Coral are lovely choices for fair to light skin tones. Crushed Coral has a peachy undertone which looks gorgeous on all undertones fair - light. Nude Bliss will warm up a cool undertone and Summer Rose will add a shimmery glow to warm undertones.

Plum Blossom, Pink Pearl and Peony are great picks for light to medium skin tones. Plum Blossom will compliment cool undertones while Pink Pearl and Peony compliment warm undertones.

South Beach Bronzer - This bronzer will add warmth and dimension to those with fair to medium undertones. This bronzer makes for a great highlighter for those with dark skin tones.

There we have it, the perfect pairing for your spring flush!
