Harnessing the Power of a Healing Balm

Whether it's just seasonal or climate-based dryness, a high caffeine diet, or a result of over-exfoliation, sometimes your daily moisturizer just doesn't cut it and you need something that packs a little more punch. Continuing on our journey through the Moisturizing Collection, we are thrilled to dive into the power of Remedy Healing Balm, an ultra-hydrating mask that works to repair the barrier instead of "coating" the skin. It's just the boost of soothing moisture you need when dry skin takes its toll.

Remedy is chock-full of anti-inflammatory and healing agents that work to encourage and support the skin's natural recovery functions, soothing irritation and alleviating redness. It reduces visible signs of stress in the skin while preventing further damage.

Ingredients to Love

Shea Butter

Rich with hydrating and conditioning agents that contain a fatty acid profile (crazy good for the elasticity of the skin) and assists with protection and cellular repair.

Licorice Root Extract

Contains a high content of potent antioxidants, while providing anti-inflammatory, lightening, calming, soothing, and immune-boosting benefits. It helps to normalize oil production while fading dark spots and blemishes, PLUS it offers anti-aging properties. This powerful ingredient just about does it all!

Gotu Kola Leaf Extract

An antioxidant-rich plant extract that delivers a source of amino acids to assist in healing and minimize scarring. It also contains soothing properties!

Wild Cherry Bark Extract

Has historically been used to treat rashes, psoriasis, and eczema because of its anti-inflammatory and astringent properties as it helps to soothe, detox, and heal.

When to Call on a Healing Balm

When you need more than a sheer daily moisturizer, healing balms may be your answer. If your skin is not taking to a lighter moisturizer, it most likely means there is a greater underlying problem and the skin is in need of repair. Remedy is excellent for sunburns, post-procedure, and other skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis to promote healing of the irritation and soothe redness.

PRO TIP: This can also be used as an intensely hydrating sleep mask because of the thick viscosity. Apply to the face before bed and wake up with a smooth, supple complexion.

Winter Body Treatment

Cracked heels, cut hands, bumpy dry winter skin... Do those sound like any winter body problems you've experienced? Us too. That is why we have put together a winter body treatment for you to treat yourself to weekly to keep your body moisturized, toned, and flake free.

Dry Brushing - A few times a week, use a dry brush to help gently exfoliate your skin. This technique also helps your lymphatic system push out toxins, and gets your circulation moving. We suggest dry brushing in the morning, before you shower. Starting at your feet, use very gentle strokes with a soft bristle body brush (be sure not to use a hard bristle brush, soft brushes keep the integrity of your skin intact). Follow your strokes up one leg at a time, towards your heart. Once both legs have been brushed, move onto your arms. Hold your arm above your head and follow with soft strokes down towards your heart. Gently brush your abdomen (up towards your heart) and your bum.

Water Oiling - Keep your favorite body oil (we love using Immerse and Coconut Oil) in the shower. Once you are done showering, apply your body oil to your skin while it is still wet. This helps the oil absorb and gives instant hydration to your skin after a hot shower.

Moisturize - While your oil is still damp, apply a body butter or lotion all over. Then walk around (or dance) in your birthday suit while it soaks in (maybe even take a look at your self in the mirror and say thank you to your incredible body)!

Do your oiling and moisturizing every day. Then once a week, follow these steps:

Multi Mask your Bod! Use our favorite enzyme mask Polish to treat your heels, hands, elbows, and knees. Apply to damp skin and massage with a few sprays of Clear or Clear Plus+. While that settles, apply Hydralift Firming Gel Mask to your upper arms and thighs for a toning, hydrating treatment your body will thank you for. Leave both on for 5 minutes, then shower off and follow with oiling and moisturizing.

Keep your Mineral Hydration Mist handy. We love using this mist to finish our makeup application, but it also makes for a great hydrator for the body. Just a few sprays during the day will keep your skin feeling hydrated.

Don't forget to use Immerse for your hair, nails, and heels. This Emu Oil-based hydration booster is multi-tasking wonder!

Niacinamide - What it's All About!

Niacinamide is an ingredient you will find in most Osmosis Skincare products due to the multitude of benefits it has for the skin. The difference in niacinamide from other common skincare ingredients is that it is a cell communicating ingredient. This means it alters the way cells perform so we are creating permanent change in the skin instead of a temporary result.

Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3, offers multiple benefits for aging skin. It can improve the skin's elasticity, dramatically enhance the barrier function, help with discoloration, and help to revive skin's healthy tone and texture.

Topically applied, it can increase ceramides and free fatty acid levels in the skin to help prevent losing water content and stimulate microcirculation in the dermis which can cause a temporary flushing of the skin. Niacinamide is also known to treat uneven skin tone and acne and the red marks it leaves behind.

The terms niacin, nicinamide, and Vitamin B3 are often used interchangeable to refer to any member of this family of organic compounds, having the same biochemical activity. Niacinamide can be found in many foods including meat, fish, eggs, green vegetables, and cereal grains. When we consume these foods, we enable our bodies to produce niacinamide on its own. It is essential to the body as it increases nutrient delivery to the skin through enhancing circulation. Proven to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, niacinamide assists in the fight against free-radical damage as well as calming inflamed skin.

This ingredient is seen throughout the Osmosis Skincare Line:

       *Niacinamide Powder Active - Professional
       *Powder Blends - Professional
*Our one-of-a-kind, Facial Infusion - Professional
       *Vitamin A Serums
       *Refresh Eye Serum
       *Repair Healing Mask

To receive the benefits of liposomal delivered niacinamide, use a Vitamin A Serum once a day to start, working up to twice daily use, follow with Clear or Clear Plus+ to help drive the ingredient into the skin. And treat your skin to a hydrating chocolate mask, Repair, a couple of times a week. Your skin will thank you!
