Whether you're sprucing up for a hot date after work or meeting up with the gal-pals for a Friday night GNO, we're showing you how to touch-up your makeup with these quick and easy steps that will take your look from day to night in a flash.

The key is adding dimension and color to create a vibrant and dramatic look! No need to remove all your makeup from the day and start over (who has time for that anyway?), simply touch up your eyes, cheeks, and lips, and you'll be on your way!

1. Eyes.
Use an Eye Shadow Trio (we used Sugar Plum) or a compact with multi-dimensional shades for a dynamic look. Add a darker tone to the crease of your eye and watch the look transform instantly! Then, create drama with a quick swipe of Liquid Liner and some Mascara (pop on some falsies if you have a good amount of mascara on already)!

2. Cheeks.
Apply some blush to the apple of your cheeks to add some life to your skin after a long day at work!
PRO TIP: Don't have your full makeup collection in your bag? Dab a little bit of Lipstick with your ring finger and blend into the cheeks as a creme blush!

Pantone's 2018 Color of the Year has us feeling inspired for many different reasons. But, mostly, we love any excuse to flaunt a flirty shade like purple! We took a soft spin on Ultra Violet, to express a vibrant, yet approachable look you can rock all year long. Many people stick to neutrals when it comes to their makeup, but this is a perfect example of how you can play with color to create a look that compliments almost any eye color, especially you hazel and green-eyed babes out there! Read on for a simple step-by-step tutorial on perfecting purple hues!

1. Begin by prepping the face with a moisturizer of your choice, preparing the eyes with Concealer, and setting with a Finishing Powder if needed.

2. Take your daily bronzer or contour and sweep into the crease of the eye as a transition shade.

3. Use a blender brush to lightly apply the gray shade from the Aubergine Eye Shadow Trio to the lid.

4. Using the same brush as step 3, pick up the deeper shade of the Mystic Mulberry Duo and work into the outer corner of the lid.

5. Using the same Duo, now press the lighter shade on the inner ball of the eye and blend as needed.

6. Line the upper lashline with a charcoal shade of eyeliner and lightly smudge with your finger or a brow brush.

7. Line the lower lashline and waterline with the same liner, then smoke it out using that same deeper shade from the Mystic Mulberry Duo.

8. Get those lashes to reach new heights! Generously apply 2-3 coats of mascara to both the top and bottom lashes.

Finish the look by adding your own creativity and flair! Contour the face and add a pop of color with blush, then top it all off with your favorite lippies! Rock this twist on Ultra Violet with confidence to set the tone for 2018!

The Beauty industry is a social one. We get to see long-time customers and meet new ones on a daily basis. Think of all the different beautiful faces we see and touch every single day! With so many individuals in and out of our space, it is vital to their health (and the thriving of your business) that the cleanliness of your tools and space are up to standard. Here are some simple ways to give your tools, station, and technique an A+ for hygiene.

1. Tools

Ensure that your brushes and utensils are properly sanitized after each use. This may seem like a given, but you'd be surprised how easy it is to skip this step when schedules get packed. Plan ahead for busy days by cleaning your brushes the night before, and even keeping an extra set on hand if possible. We recommend using Deep Clean Cleanser, or a gentle cleanser or shampoo of your choice, and rinsing thoroughly with warm water. IMPORTANT: Be sure you are only lathering and rinsing the bristles of your brushes! Getting water or product down into the base of your brush will significantly decrease its longevity. Once all brushes are washed, lay flat to dry on a towel with the head of the brush hanging off the edge so they dry all the way around.
TIP: Use our Brush Cleaner to sanitize and condition between uses or to use the same brush with a different product!

2. Application

Makeup application etiquette is just as important as the cleanliness of the tools and products you're using. Refer to these simple guidelines for proper sanitization during application:

-Always use a disposable tool to apply mascara and lip products. Be sure not to double-dip back into the product once the tool has been used on the client. If your wand or brush needs more, grab a new one!
-When applying Liquid Foundation, Concealer, or other cream-based products, first apply it to your working pallet or back of the hand and use this to gather product for application.
-For powder products such as eye shadows, pressed bases, blushes, etc., remove the top layer with a tissue after each client to prevent the minerals from being contaminated. You may also lightly spritz your pressed powders with our Brush Cleaner as an extra cleaning agent, just be sure you are spraying from at least a foot away to prevent the product from getting too wet and compromising its texture. Bonus! All Osmosis' Mineral Makeup products are formulated with antibacterial and anti-fungal ingredients which helps cut down on bacteria growth.
TIP: To avoid going through the extra steps of cleansing the powders after each use, you could use a clean, disposable mascara wand to scrape product onto your pallet and use from there.
- You can ensure cleanliness of pencil products between clients by sharpening them to remove the layer of product that came in contact with client's face, then give a light spritz of our Brush Cleaner to effectively remove any additional bacteria.
-Sponges and beauty blenders are an easy way to spread bacteria so should be thoroughly washed after each use. This can be done by fully saturating them with a gentle facial cleanser and continue to rinse until the water is clear and the sponge is completely clean. Consider Blenders that are latex-free to avoid potential allergic reactions.

3. Display

Your makeup display showcases and represents your entire practice, so you want to keep this baby looking pristine. Appearance plays a huge role here. Be sure to keep your display organized, de-cluttered, and clean. It may be beneficial to keep non-toxic cleaning items and paper towels in a nearby drawer or cabinet for quick wipe-downs between clients!
Always keep lids and caps on your products to keep them fresh and safe from environmental toxins. It is best practice to replace the top to any product immediately after use. Finally, even though it may look beautiful, it is best to store brushes and tools in a separate, enclosed container to avoid exposing them to dust, dirt, or debris. Your clients will admire the attention to detail and will be pleased with a positive experience in your salon or spa.
BONUS TIP: It may also benefit you to smudge your space with sage, palo santo, or other high-vibe smudging ingredients to help detoxify the air in your space. Not sure about any of these? An oil diffuser will do the trick as well!
