With the holidays in full force, it's common to see a spike in stress, anxiety, and depression. Jodi has over 15 years of experience in the beauty industry and has had the opportunity to work with some of the foremost leaders in both skincare and cosmetics. In addition, she has worked as an educator for major skincare manufacturers and has had the pleasure of training hundreds of beauty professionals throughout her career. Q1: What inspired you to become an esthetician?

"I call it my "mid-life crisis moment", the moment I decided to go back to school and get my esthetician's license. I was in my late 30's and needed a job, so I reached out to an Account Executive of a major luxury brand and asked for a job; I was hired as an independent contractor to do facials in a department store setting. I had never done a facial! I was trained and found that I LOVE it; I loved making people feel good. And so began the most rewarding career I could have ever asked to be a part of."

Q2: What is one tip that has helped you succeed in your practice that you would want to share with your fellow esthies?

"It's difficult to give just one tip so I will add a couple more. Be authentic, show up 100% for every appointment, and be on time, every time.

Q3: What are your favorite self-care habits after a long day of taking care of others?

"Self-care is so important, we preach it daily. I spray my treatment room with palo santo every night, it helps cleanse the day's events (energy) so I can start fresh the following morning. I am a bit of an introvert so my re-charge has to do with a calm and relaxing environment, enter my 2 amazing and loving cats! Chilling with my kitties makes every day feel like a great day!"

Q4: What is your proudest accomplishment?

"My proudest accomplishment was understanding and knowing that I could support myself in an industry that is not only emotionally rewarding, but also very competitive. Thriving and not just surviving is an incredibly powerful feeling!"

Q5: How do you stay passionate about what you do every day?

"Staying passionate comes easily when you do something you love but there are times, I won't lie, when I need a little bit of a push. Education and newness help motivate me; I try to stay on top of my game, always.
